Philippa Faulkner, a painter, sculptor and graphic artist, is lauded for her textural colourfield works, cubistic watercolours and abstract works in acrylics and oils. She was born in Belleville, Ontario, and went on to study at the Parsons School of Fine & Applied Art, Advertising & Design and the Doon School under Carl Schaeffer and F.H. Varley. She then went on to study in Provincetown and N.Y.C. with Hans Hoffman, and eventually in Mexico, where she was awarded a scholarship at the Instituto Allende, San Miguel de Allende from 1955-62, returning 1967-69 when she obtained her MFA. She had a great number of exhibitions throughout the course of her life, including solo exhibitions and many group shows. In addition to being an artist, she was a photographer and sculptress. She was also an educator; teaching at The Schneider School of Art, Toronto Centennial College. St Michael's Catholic School, Belleville, ON and giving classes at The Royal Ontario Museum, Toronto, ON, and The McMichael Gallery.

She is the recipient of numerous important awards, including the 1st Prize from the Annual Show at the Instituto Allende, Mexico (1960); OAC Award (1976); and 107th OSA Open Annual Travelling Exhibition (1980); and is represented in a wide range of public and private collections.
