Description The most poisonous organism on the planet. A Female Golden Poison Arrow Frog from Colombia, South America. This amphibian is about 1 inch in length. The skin of an adult P. terribilis has enough batrachotoxin to kill 20,000 mice, or 100 adult humans. Two-tenths of a microgram of batrachotoxin is lethal in the human blood stream and each adult P. terribilis contains nearly 200 micrograms.
Lee Hancock, Washington DC Area Member Since April 2008 Artist Statement I've considered myself a nature photographer all my life. Ever since I was young I took notice of the emotions, social structures and personalities all living things have no matter what their size. Until recently I've always had to settle for taking mental pictures that I could never share with others. Now things have changed...allow me to share.
