Description This piece was created while going through fertility treatments for the third time (hoping for my second child). The browns and yellows represent my feelings of emptiness and inability to become pregnant, but the bright blue is a reminder of the hope and faith that the Lord would provide us with the big family that we longed for. (We have since been blessed with 3 children-2 who are with us and one who joined the Lord after 11 1/2 hours with us. My second pregnancy was with twins who were born 17 weeks early. My daughter lived for 11 1/2 hours and my son spent 4 1/2 months in the hospital).
Cassie Jo Skalicky, West Fargo Member Since December 2009 Artist Statement I am a self-taught artist and describe my work as natural abstract. Each of my pieces has deep meaning and reflects my inner-most emotions and the path that the Lord has provided for me.
After graduating from West Fargo High School, I studied Psychology and Theatre at Minnesota State University, Moorhead. I spent time working with a local dinner theatre company as well as doing promotional modeling and commercial voice over work. I have worked in the non-profit world for the past 10 years. I became a stay-at-home mom 2 years ago when my twins were born at 23 weeks gestation. I have 3 children. Grace is 7, Andrew is 2 and Natalie died from complications of being a micro-premie only 11 1/2 hours after she and Andrew were born.
I understand how blessed I am and enjoy every moment I have with my family!
