Description this is an image of the sunset across tañon strait from sta. filomena, alegria, cebu, philippines on august 6 2009. it was derived from the original photograph shot by the artist and was first processed with the crosshatch filter. then a triangle from right below the sun to the right corner to below the sun at the lower border was copied and pasted five times, each a distance away from the other to the right. finally the image was twirled and texturized in fine sandstone.
Alan Petralba, sta. filomena, alegria, cebu Member Since February 2010 Artist Statement Art, photography, and music have always been my passions since I was young. We had our own sunlit darkroom at home where we processed black and white photos from film. I was also into watercolor and I thought I might take up Fine Arts or become an architect.
I ended taking up Accountancy in order to be able to work while in college. I passed the licensure exams in 1977, worked in a bank, married, and had a child. Being an internal auditor I was among the first to use a computer in the office and when I retired in 1998 I was online at home but I was into songwriting. I finally quit working in 2006, a year after my wife's death.
I live alone in the country now, in the fishing village of Sta. Filomena, in the town of Alegria, in the island province of Cebu, in central Philippines. This is where I shoot my sunsets.
