Artist Statement Finding exquisiteness in the unexpected drives the aesthetics within my work. When I work with my camera, I am intrigued by my surroundings and try to see our world differently through my lens. As a society, we are overwhelmed by the daily grind that we tend to forget the natural beauty of our surroundings. I’m drawn to the fractured, run down areas that people usually pass by. I try to picture in my mind what the building or area was like in a past life, what people may have lived there, and how it came to be in its present state before I photograph it. By exposing the natural beauty in the textures and colors of the world with my camera, I am seeing things others don’t see and taking a section of the world from my view. My goal for my work is I want to expose viewers to the beauty in the forgotten world that we live in.
