Description The Empire Club is a front for plenty of shady operations. Gambling, illegal substances, alcohol, you name it - it's probably somewhere in the back room or basement. Richard here is the owner of the Empire Club, the outwardly (mostly) respectable face of the establishment. An old-school gangster type, you don't want to get on his bad side.
Katy Russell Member Since January 2013 Artist Statement Art has been a passion of mine for as long as I can remember, from playing with pastels as a kid to drawing practically nonstop throughout each and every one of my classes in highschool. Sometimes I joke that I learned to draw by practising six hours a day, five days a week. The truth is I’m still learning, still discovering what I can do with both digital and physical meadiums. The great thing about art is that no matter how good you get there is always something new you can learn.
My style is part american comic book, part japanese animation, and semi-realistic colouring. I was influenced by a lot of different styles and eventually developed my own. The best way I can describe my style is ‘sensual’, because unless I purposefully try not to a lot of my art tends to have some old school pinup in it somewhere. I do most of my artwork digitally these days, but tend to start off with physical sketches. I do still enjoy doing the ocassional traditional art piece, but find it easier to use digital means to acchieve the eye-poppingly vibrant colours that I love.
