Description Quintana Roo at the Yucatan Peninsula just recently arrived in modern times, do to the tourism industry but the shadows of the past are vivid. About 40 years ago there were a banana plantation were now is the famous Cancun. It was custom that marriage were made by families not by the couple what often meet on the wedding day the first time. It was a great honor and social uplift for the family when a 'poor' girl was 'lucky' to be chosen by her rich Landlord after two former wives's died without giving an heir to the Landlord. The Landlord was some 60+ then, the girl was just 15.The old Lady is still alive. I heart her story from one of her granddaughters. I used the photo of the granddaughter for the picture since there is a strong family resemblance and I imagine the old Lady may looked alike her on the wedding day some 40 years ago. Most of the picture is painted. The portrait of the granddaughter was cut from a photo and inserted into the painting. The final picture was enhanced digitally. Programs used were Digital Imagine suite and Paint Shop pro.
