i can give you nothing
i can give you nothing whatever paltry coffers once I owned have been pillaged through extravagance and greed
i can give you nothing in my haste to flight I signed away the rights to any shelter
i can give you nothing my few gems are semi-precious, not to mention paste, and since I bathe in silver moonlight rather than the glint of golden sun there is no hidden treasure even there
i can give you nothing i have sold my loaves of bread for feral flowers, bartered all my wine for flimsy film
so here, spread out before you like the scanty, ragged wares of some street vendor, are my holdings: one heart slightly tarnished, needing to be polished gently one spirit full alive and optimistic for reasons all unknown one mind the rambling wayward landscape of a dreamer one body throbbing, but imperfect in its faded afterglory one smile fraught with promise if its promise that you want
but if these few possessions cannot quench the thirst you suffer after miles across the barren sands of latelife disappointment pass me by without a whisper, let me look for sweeter solace, leave this tinkers tatterdemalion of the marketplace in peace 2013 RC deWinter
