Jane Tellam, Peak District Member Since July 2012 Artist Statement Have some abstract art!
Unfortunately the galleries containing the latest abstract art, flowers, trees, figurative and animals didn't make it through the site update but if you see anything you like and would like on a canvas print, at any of our other Mindgoop stores (listed further down in this profile) email us at firstname.lastname@example.org or tweet us @mindgoop and we'll see what we can do (prices negotiable).
J.M.Tellam BA (hons) is a prolific experimental abstract artist living in the Peak District, England, UK, though she wishes she was actually living in Wales as that is where she feels 'at home' and as we all know, home is where the heart is.
She studied art at school ('O' level grade 'A' at Mountbatten Secondary School in 1987), but, having left home at the age of sixteen, was unable to afford to keep her pony and go to full time college, or would have gone to art college like everyone else. As it is she followed her other life love into a career and for a number of years worked with horses, starting as a working pupil in horse physiotherapy and stud work, then showjumping, polo, dressage and finally becoming a Horse Riding Instructor.
A bad motorcyle accident resulted in disability and Jane went back to college to study art and design (Advanced GNVQ Art and Design, and 'A' level Fine art grade 'A' at Farnborough Technical College) then started a Fine Art Degree at Huddersfield University in 1998, only to be told that she was 'appalling' at art so switched courses and went to Sunderland University in 1999 - her Fine Art lecturers only agreed to sign the release forms after making her promise 'never to pick up a paintbrush again'.
The new course, which Jane was given an unconditional offer of a place on as soon as the course leader saw examples of her artwork, suited her very well, and she left in 2002 with a combined 2nd class honors degree in Environmental Illustration and Graphic Design but never felt confident about her artwork due to her experiences at Huddersfield University, and couldn't find a job in Graphic Design due to 3 years experience in the industry being needed.
In August 2011, Jane, aka 'Jinx', started up Mindgoop at Zazzle: http://www.zazzle.com/mindgoop
In October 2011, she decided to take up art again after several years break, and started to do abstract art as therapy for her RSI and tennis elbow conditions.
In July 2012 Mindgoop expanded to include this Imagekind site for her art and photography prints.
In August 2012 Mindgoop expanded to Cafepress, with Mindgoop and Squeegoop stores there to provide an extensive, continually expanding variety of gifts, apparel, homeware, stationery, bags and much more at bargain prices.
In August 2012 Mindgoop also started a further, slower expansion to Redbubble (ongoing and a bit slower than our usual pace of work as our broadband speed is not enough for that site really so uploads are difficult) http://www.redbubble.com/people/mindgoop where she is continuously exploring new abstract ideas so there is artwork on iPad cases there which is not available anywhere else.
In January 2013 Mindgoop further expanded to include Screen Printing on environmentally friendly, organic and recycled T shirts and Tote bags, a store incorporating artwork, slogans and random ideas from her and her husband and partner in business, Darknirv, this is split into several speciality stores:
Giraffeandvole - http://skreened.com/giraffeandvole for slogans and random work Squeegoop - http://skreened.com/squeegoop specializing in art and photography and slogans about rats. Despiralization - http://skreened.com/despiralization J.M.Tellam's abstract art only on T shirts and Tote bags Artygoop - http://skreened.com/artygoop artwork by J.M.Tellam and Darknirv, on branded 'Artygoop' apparel and Tote bags.
