DescriptionThe Southbank is a massive complex of the Royal Festival Hall, the Queen Elizabeth Hall, the Hayward Gallery and more. I first took pictures there when our photography class went there for night photography. The RFH has just had a major and lengthy facelift and is now back in business. There are a lot of free events going on, and maybe I'll get my pictures in an exhibition there... But this particular corner is the reserve of skate boarders and bmx'ers. This image gets its edge from the strip lighting in the concrete ceiling, illuminating the graffiti on the wall by A. Dee and a Polish guy (Oct. 2005), and of course from the bmx rider in mid-air.
Antje Bormann, London Member Since August 2007 Artist Statement Thank you for dropping in and welcome to my galleries on imagekind.
My photography is about little things of beauty that catch my eye in passing - like in the galleries autumn, winter, black and white roses and forms and flowers - and about things that matter to me, like love, joy, and togetherness - as in the gallery family ties. I also want to draw attention to issues that I believe need to be addressed, like the negligent way some of the slightly rougher neighbourhoods of London are treated by their residents (north.west.london).
There is also some of my travel photography from trips within Europe and in Latin America as well as a lot about the many facets of life in my chosen home, London - such as in portobello and london transport, to name just a couple of the galleries filled with images from the UK capital.
So, as you can see, the range of subjects covered here is quite varied, so I would like to invite you to browse and find something that catches your eye like it caught mine. I hope that in my photography you discover new things for yourself, that you find things that resonate with you, and most of all, that it makes you start seeing your world with renewed curiosity. Because the biggest change photography has brought to my life is making me pay more attention to what is going on around me.
