Artist Statement Katherine Rae Bell is a contemporary realist acrylic painter of pets, people and favorite places. Her finely-detailed, realistic portraits have often been praised for capturing the spirit and personality of her subjects. Her works hang in many private residences throughout the U.S. She has exhibited in group and solo exhibits, including 822 Gallery in Royal Oak, MI, and ArtPrize in Grand Rapids, MI. Katherine is a two-time recipient of the “Artist of the Year” award from Michigan’s South Oakland Art Association, and their “Artist of the Year - Portraits Category” award in 2014. She has also participated as a local judge for the National Reflections Art Competition: Visual Arts, in Birmingham, MI for several years.
Recently she has begun rendering her realistic animals in texture and ablaze in bright, glittered, offbeat colors, as a fun nod to contemporary decorating.
