Kristen Anderson, California Member Since September 2008 Artist Statement Have you ever sat in awe while mixing 2 colors of paint together, watching the patterns that just naturally happen? Have you seen how cool it is when rain spreads across your windshield getting pushed by the wipers? These are the snapshots of time that I try to recreate when making my modern pieces of art. The littlest, briefest moments of life get looked over... I'm hoping to make them last a bit longer.
My dad was a "hobby" artist who had a lot more talent than time. I got the art "bug" from him. I got the visual inspiration unintentionally from my mom who took me to Norway for the summer many times. Scandinavia, as a whole, has a completely different aesthetic and general "feel". We also spent a lot of time at our family cabin at Lake Tahoe, so essentially I grew up experiencing 3 different worlds: Norway, the San Francisco Bay Area, and the mountains of Lake Tahoe.
I love how I get to combine my dad's talent, my mom's heritage and my fascination with the minutia of life's unnoticed beauty to create my most recent body of work.
