Artist Statement I have been making art for 30 years. I attended the Cleveland Institute of Art, studying painting and printmaking in 1974. After a period of traveling out west, I attended Minneapolis College of Art and Design, where I also studied printmaking and painting.
I then moved back to Michigan, where I worked and taught painting at Lansing Community College. Working in a factory studio across the street from L.C.C., I started doing collages, using brown industrial paper, charcoal, oil paint, tape, graphite and found elements.
Through the years I have also experimented with landscape painting using oils, watercolors, pastel and collage. Sometimes I flirt with realism, but I always want my process to show through. For the last fourteen years I have been a graphic designer and this inspired me to experiment with digital art. It allows me to use my photography, drawing and painting to manipulate line, texture, and color and integrates all aspects of my art making paradigm.
