Artist Statement Growing up in a rural and somewhat remote coastal community gave me a chance to closely observe nature. From a very early age, I started drawing the world around me, and spent many hours observing the wild roses growing near the garden gate, the changing sky and sea. Many years later, the creation never ceases to amaze me, and inspires many of my artworks. Having passed years now drawing, painting and studying other art disciplines, I find myself in a similar place as when I started--surrounded by nature. Except now I also have farm animals and lots of growing things which I planted myself. These works offered as reproductions are one of the veins of art I work in, and not the only one. Many of my works are only available as originals, and these can be seen on my website. However, many people love the farm and the nature studies I do, so I have decided to offer them as "prints", which is to say, reproductions. Many of these originals are not for sale. They are like cherished family photos, of the place I live and love! The more realistic works are also painstaking and time-consuming to do, I don't do many of them. Though realism is not my go-to style, I find it good discipline to work in realism sometimes. For those who cannot get an original, these prints are a good solution--people get to take a bit of Turtle Dove Hill with them! I am also including some photographs I take here, which I think some people may enjoy.
