Description THE FALL OF THE ASPEN by Lynn Bauer was taken in the town of Mammoth Lakes, California. Mammoth is located in the gorgeous Eastern Sierra Nevada mountains, and is home to a host of activity in every season. Fall is definitely the time for the leaf peepers. These beautiful aspen trees are glowing in the autumn light as their leaves vary from shades of green, yellow, and orange-gold. Because of a wind storm, some of the leaves have already fallen to the ground and are caught in the golden grasses below. A touch of blue sky peeks through at the upper edges of the photo, on a day that was mostly overcast. The glow within this wooded area was so pretty, and the white bark of the aspens creates a lovely contrast to the soft autumn colors.
