as a passionate rose gardener of 300+ roses, award winning horticultural and arrangement exhibitor, past american rose society horticulture judge and consulting rosarian, roses inspire brenda as her most beautiful subjects from which to paint and photograph.
the paintings begin with her own original photographs. they are then sculpted with light and painted with thousands of brush strokes transformed into oil, watercolor and a multitude of other mediums.
"the magic of the garden" is a common theme in her work with dragonflies, butterflies, birds and various garden creatures as well as other horticultural motifs. all portraying a tranquil, zen- like ambiance. people and pet portraits are also a treasured theme.
a new direction in mixed media will be featured in 2012. her giclee canvas images will be "kicked up" with natural materials from the earth and vintage ephemera. other re-purposed art and home decor will be added as well.

brenda studied life sculpture with artists, dave parvin of colorado and in los angeles with philip hitchcock . the fascination of human anatomy and clay sculpture combined with her holistic health background in muscular anatomy started the love affair for creating artisan dolls and life sculptures, translating the human form into a miniature character versions as collectable heirlooms.
