Artist Statement “Creating things has always been a part of my life. When I was young, I remember sitting with my grandma at the sewing machine making Barbie clothes for my dolls, or making bowls with clay, or using some object found on the family farm to make a piece of art. The work ethic in our home was “try it and see what happens”, so I learned the needed skills to fix my car, refinish furniture, use a hammer, and sew clothing. With these tools, I learned to try new things, see things in a different way, and to never give up. These skills have all played a part in the molding of my art career” states Kelly.

Kelly lives in rural Michigan with her husband and 2 children. She works in oils, mixed media collage, printmaking, and ceramics. Kelly is an adjunct professor of art at a local community college and she teaches art to home school groups, provides private lessons, and presents demonstrations to many groups. She is a certified K -12 art educator and a member of many arts organizations. Kelly’s work can be seen locally at House Wear in Kalamazoo, Thistle Gallery in Douglas, WEst of the Moon in Chelsea and in various other venues, galleries and boutiques throughout Michigan.
