Artist Statement I've had an artist's soul all my life, reveling in fabric, threads, yarns, beads, paint, clay, wire, gems, (and anything else not nailed down!) to express my love of color and texture.

Encaustic painting has captured my interest for the past couple of years because it allows me to combine everything I love into redolent, sensuous, luminous layers of beeswax, resin, and pigment. My father and cousins were beekeepers long ago and that marvelous honey-scented wax that is the basis of encaustic paint touches strong memories.

I spend most of my days as a special education teacher of preschool-aged children with developmental delays. We laugh, sing, dance, and play everyday as we work to prepare them for success in life. During the evenings and days off, I paint with beeswax: melting, brushing, scraping, incising, and fusing it into art for you!
