Artist Statement I was born in Liverpool in 1989 and I grew up studying Art at school and college. I was always fascinated with drawing and creating art, but I took another direction in 2007 and began work full time in retail, although I continued to draw and paint in my spare time. My life changed when I was admitted to hospital in 2012 with Renal Failure and was unable to continue working. This unfortunate event gave me the time and opportunity to realise my artistic potential and continue my love of painting.

I am self taught and have studied different techniques using acrylic and oil mediums, although I prefer to use acrylic in my work. I find inspiration from many other well known contemporary British Artists such as Barry Hilton and Lynne Ratcliffe. My passions are Seascapes, Landscapes and skies, although I occasionally like trying new things and experimenting with different styles.

I don't always attempt to give a photographic representation in my work, but instead I try to capture the tranquillity and calmness of the subject. Taking reference from very few images, I find that I have more freedom to use my imagination. I often play around with the colour, texture and perspective, attempting to achieve a different feel within each piece. Quite often, I also like to make a bold use of colour to represent the emotion of the painting. I try to generate a sense of serenity and sentiment, hopefully invoking a feeling of peacefulness and calm. A lot of my inspiration is drawn from life's emotions and sometimes my own personal experiences. I enjoy learning new techniques as I continue to progress further.
