Gayle Wilbur, Olympia
Member Since August 2015
Artist Statement Gayle Wilbur was born and raised in Bremerton, Washington. She went to work early on as a medical transcriptionist. Her passion for painting came in the year 2000 when she took a workshop called "How to Paint like the Old Masters," a Frank Covino-based teaching taught by Liz Hilleran out of Tacoma, Washington. After learning a very methodical way of painting and what it took to achieve the results she was looking for, Gayle craved more. In 2007 she attended the Tacoma Academy of Fine Art for two years. She learned great discipline in achieving further results. Gayle then went home and continued her studies of color theory and color mixing. At this point she is attracted to being more of a tonalist.

Gayle works in a very methodical manner and hopes to evoke more of a sense of softness and sensuality in most of her work and innocence and purity in others. She strives to perfect her skill as a painter with each painting she does, finding further fascination with the next big challenge.
