Artist Statement I have always believed there are three types of photographer. Firstly, there are those who are simply content with capturing an image. We were all there once. Whilst many people are satisfied with this, there are those who have the passion and desire to strive for more. The second type of photographer is one who specialises in reflecting what lies exactly infront of him/her. Those who see such photos relate to the replication of familiar buildings and the likeness of loved ones. A fine achievement but the evolution does not end here. For me, the beauty of photography is in transforming what is there into something so much more powerful that the instinct of those viewing such photos is to wish to be part of that landscape or be talking to that portrait figure. The imagination to capture a moment that we may overlook unwittingly, or to view the world from an angle we would not have otherwise cared to have taken up is what makes this such a special art. Although everything that is shot is of something real, somehow it looks better than the real thing. To achieve this is the defining reason why I became a photographer. To want to transend into the 4th dimension that the photograph proposes. To do justice to the human form, to mother nature and many of man's greatest creations. I do not presume to have reached the end of this journey but through experimentation, hard work and mostly by luck, I may have occasionally been able to capture glimpses of what I wish to achieve. I hope these photgraphs are as special to you as they are to me. I appreciate any comments you may have.
