Description Here is another beautiful candle station at a historical Mission founded in 1769, in California~ I added a double mat to this one. You can see the difference it makes. Have fun playing with the mats and frames yourself.
Dee Callahan, Surprise, AZ. Member Since January 2011 Artist Statement I am a freelance photographer and a published poet, as well as a "Juried Artist". I hold an "Investor" Membership with the West Valley Arts Council, of Surprise, AZ. and have shown, and sold my artwork in at least 12 different states, as well as four Hawaiian Islands. I am also a longtime member of the West Valley Arts Museum, and have been working with them recently, in conjunction with their exhibits now on display, at the Peoria City Hall Art Gallery. I was selected as one of the artist to have their works in a "Juried" competition in 2012. My works were also most recently exhibited at the Marley Park Art Studio, in Surprise, AZ. (in December 2012, and are currently there again, Jan. 2013.) I had several of my pieces at the Peoria City Hall Art Gallery in a Statewide "Juried" competition, and on exhibit from March 26- May 17, 2012. Corte Bella Marketplace in Sun City West, Az. is an additional place you may see my works. They were at the marketplace on March 31, 2012. I am a member of the West Valley Photography Club, and also past Director of Art for a Sun City West community of various artists.... I have had an article written about my works in the Corte Bella Times. Most recently I was contracted by the City of Surprise, Az. at Marley Park to shoot some community activities~ I will be doing some privately contracted personal shoots in June, 2012 such as a 60th Wedding Anniversary party in Surprise~ and some CD/DVD cover shoots~ I also showed works at the Wildlife Animal Park and Zoo, and will be presenting my photography soon at the "Theater Works" black tie and charity gala called "It's showtime" The City of Surprise, AZ. has asked to have my work hung at City Hall. It will be there in February 2013. I have a website, www.artid.com/decal5 where I write blogs about some of my works, and places that I have visited. I have literally been taking pictures and writing poetry most of my life; since childhood. I specialize in Haiku~ All of my works are originals and are copyrighted. You will find pictures of some unusual subjects amongst my most popular work~ I love taking pictures of every day objects, because sometimes the ordinary can become extraordinary when caught in the right light and with the right mindset~I love what I do, and it has become a very big part of who I am.
Note: I was recently enlisted to do a Photo-journalistic project about the great American Author, John Steinbeck, and have traveled extensively in Northern, California, to Salinas where he was born and raised; as well as to Monterey, which he frequented, since his father was once the Treasurer of the city... I am currently lecturing at WVAC with my works called " A Novel Experience" which includes some of the excerpts from my interviews with the Director of the Martha Heasley Cox Center for Steinbeck Studies Prior to creating my website, I was a business woman in both the Real Estate and Financial sectors. I was also a Urology Nurse. Both of these professions served me well, as doing freelance work requires discipline and financial savy; and my artwork requires "Nuturing" to create the very best result.
I love working with artid and imagekind, as well as facebook, to bring my images directly to you for you to view in different formats and frames. Imagekind is a wonderful interactive website for you to be able to find just the right color mat(s), frames, glass or whatever you need to match your decor. I also offer greeting cards upon special request, and mainly do them off of my artid website www.artid.com/decal5 Additionally, I am currently mentoring a very talented young photographer, Brandon Alcala, and you will see his pictures called "At The Zoo" in one of the galleries on my site, here! His print work has been sold in Washington and California, as well as in Arizona. You may contact me, via e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org, or leave me a note in my guestbook at artid if you have a special request, or any questions; or you may become a fan, or leave a
