I create around fantasies and stories. Ideas are compiled from daily events, imaginary beings or favorite fictional works from childhood like Dr. Seuss or Alice in Wonderland. Many of the vessels are based on the female form as shown by the its shape or drawings on the surface. Beginning as a painter, I started hand-building clay objects to explore form and texture. With a fascination with unusual textures, human form and whimsical themes, the sculptures entitled, SPECIES, pushes the human figure into abstractionas they sway and undulate with the litheness of dancers. MOONFLOWERS are growing, organic forms that rise through running brooks and blossom regardless of the temperature. Created for an outdoor garden, tiered fountain or a small body of water. The Adventures of LULU LOVELY the Mermaid includes personal, whimsical poems, illustrated on ceramic art. She is a Mermaid who travels on adventures with her shoe collection. Uncommon perspectives, mixed media and use of color is important to my work. What does the world look from a Chihuahua’s perspective at 7 inches above ground? From a magic carpet ride at 20 feet above? Of a floating spirit looking into someone’s home? Adding 3-dimensions to a canvas —shoes falling into the room—depicts a current series on the life of a woman. Although you never see her face, this pictures is worth a 1000 words.
