Description I was preparing to set up a still life when my cat Smudge jumped on the cloth. Her black fur was a nice contrast against the pale drape and green wall so I snapped a few shots to use as reference later. Over a decade later, I rediscovered the paintings and decided to touch them up with a more experienced hand. (You can see by comparing the signature on this to my more recent works that I was still playing with how to sign with my newly married name.)Smudge was an abandoned kitten that I adopted back when I lived in Savannah. A friend of mine discovered her and her littermate taking shelter underneath her car during a rain storm! She turned out to be a wonderful furry family member who has long since crossed the Rainbow Bridge.
Paige Wallis, Boston, MA Member Since February 2007 Artist Statement I attended an arts based high school, Etobicoke School of the Arts, in Ontario Canada before going on to graduate from the Savannah College of Art and Design with a bfa specializing in illustration. My preferred media are watercolor and acrylic and I also enjoy creating digital works with Photoshop and Illustrator.
As an artist I enjoy exploring a variety of media and artistic genres to capture the world I see around me. While my watercolor pieces tend toward a traditional, realistic style, my acrylic works have a more modern, pop-art edge.
I greatly appreciate feedback on any/all of my work...and if you're feeling flush, why not buy some?
