Artist Statement Denise Hillman Moynahan graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration Design. She ran DM Studio for many years illustrating educational materials, designing and constructing displays for special events, and creating art works for medical offices. She also wrote and marketed "Green Screen Stories", a series of children's stories for the early IBM computers.
In 1984 Denise joined the Central Intelligence Agency as a Visual Information Specialist and retired in 1999 as Chief of the Visual Information Staff in the Office of the Deputy Director for Science and Technology.
She studied with the Institute of Children's Literature, and is a member of the American Association of University Women, and the Garrett County Arts Council, where she exhibits and sells her art works. Denise and her husband presently live in a geodesic dome on top of Backbone Mountain where she continues to draw, and to write and illustrate children's books, including one for each of her ten grandchildren.
