Artist Statement Bio
As a man with many talents, I like to push the boundaries and evoke imagination. Whether it be through music, acting, or painting, I set out to inspire. Sometimes I feel as if divine inspiration is at work through me, as others have pointed out, and then at times I know that it's me, and my creativity. When I'm acting, I'm at my most comfortable when I'm in-character, which is why I feel that I connect the most to my art through the sculptures I create. Using a multitude of mediums, each piece tells a story, and can be viewed from different angles, giving the illusion of life through the movement in the eyes. My artistic work tends to focus on nature, and the preservation of how things once were. The animals of the jungle that were once free, are now held captive in zoos across the world. I believe in freedom for all species, and that all species have a soul. It's their soul that you connect with. Finding everyday objects and blending them together to create a surreal image that is not only interesting but feels alive. And unlike other artists whose work is suppose to be left untouched, I encourage my viewers to gently feel and connect with the piece, just like their curiosity wants them to. I love textures, colors, and emotions, which was probably why I opted against pursuing Architectural drafting after high school even though I had straight A's in the subject. The thirst for designing something void of color just didn't interest me.
