Artist Statement Painting nature in watercolor can be very intriguing and exciting in Northern Ontario. As an artist I enjoy the way the sun or light touches the earth. When I am painting the reflection of birch trees in the water that is when I am most at peace; these moments are my favorite. Being a native of Northern Ontario and loving the outdoors, I started water color painting in 2009 with Gayle Ballantyne as my teacher. To challenge myself, I enrolled in a “plain air” workshop with Gordon Mackenzie, twice! This was in the beautiful Thessalon area in Northern Ontario where my love for birch trees started. For me, painting is both relaxing and fulfilling.
