Artist Statement I began my photographic journey in high school in 2002. I began with Photo I, from then on, I couldn’t get enough. At that point I knew I was passionate about photography. I took every photo class available, and then some. My photography teacher had to create “self study” classes for me because I took all of the photography classes on the curriculum. Photography just seemed natural to me.

Through high school I used 35mm black and white film, learned all of the darkroom techniques, and even experimented enough to teach my teacher a few discoveries in the darkroom. Soon after graduation, my family gifted me my first digital SLR, a Canon Digital Rebel XT. I then began to self teach myself the digital world of photography. From special effects, multiple imagery, to electronic manipulation techniques, I learned by doing. In my opinion, that is the best way to learn something, it worked for me at least.

Although I taught myself how to post produce images with programs such as Photoshop, Aperture, and Lightroom, I also taught myself to generate images strait from the lens to bypass the post production all together. Rarely do I ever manipulate the original image. Only about <5% of my images are ever touched after imported. If you get it right the first time, there is no need for Photoshop, etc. I strive for perfection in every image.

My Camera and I have ventured many places around the world including Maryland, Monterey Bay California, Wichita Falls Texas, various locations in Germany, Italy, Turkey, and Scotland. Thus, most of my images are landscape/nature oriented.

I have recently gained studio/wedding experience with a local studio. I recently worked for Lifetouch as a portrait photographer photographing mainly children and families gaining a lot of studio/customer service experience.

I am 2006 Everyman Photo contest honorable mention (the only photo contest I have ever entered [its free]), and a recipient of a March 2007 Jones Soda Company printing.
