Description A backpacker and her dog walk into a mystical scene atop Tillamook Headland along the Oregon Coast Trail. Tillamook Head is a large Oregon headland extending into the Pacific, south of Clatsop Beach and Clatsop Spit, and can be seen from as far north as Cape Disappointment, Washington. The Oregon community of Seaside lies just north of the headland and Cannon Beach lies south of the headland. Oregon Coast Trail logo The majesty of Oregon's coastline unfolds around every bend along the 382-mile Coast Trail. Hikers cross sandy beaches, meander through forest-shaded corridors and traverse majestic headlands.
Don Schwartz, Portland, Oregon Member Since September 2012 Artist Statement Photography is for me a dance with nature. It is the immersion in a landscape; the sharing of a habitat with nature’s creatures. It is the sense of being lost in the moment, where the passing of time goes unnoticed. It is the serendipity of capturing a moment in time that becomes a timeless moment. The quiet places, the places of simple beauty, draw me in – from the delicate splendor of dew dancing on an iris petal to the magnificent breadth of a gray whale slicing through the water. With my camera, I am a blessed witness in a field of splendor.
