Description The Hindu festival of Thaipusam is a time for atonement, and of for expressing gratitude for prayers answered in the last year. Singapore is one of the few places where the traditional mortification of the flesh and parade of kevade bearers is still practiced. I expected to be horrified. I wound up being strangely moved.
Patricia McBride, Arlington, Virginia Member Since September 2010 Artist Statement "Reimei" is the Japanese word for daybreak. I am a lover of many things, including travel, meditation, the ocean, the mountains, dance, music, song, football, puns, and the play of light on just about anything. Especially on the Atlantic ocean at dawn, right before I dive in. Many images can be rendered in color, sepia or black and white, although I often only show one version; please feel free to inquire. In addition to fine art photography, I market gifts and accessories under the logo "Do ReiMei". I hope you enjoy these images.
