Description This piece gives a sense of times gone by. A silence only birds and crickets can break. Trains may have traveled through here in the past, but it is now overgrown with a tunnel just in case a lone train travels through again.
Brenda L Member Since August 2015 Artist Statement My mother was the most talented person I knew. She could tear down a wall and rebuild it elsewhere (she did this once in one of the homes we lived in). She built furniture. She sewed her own clothes; sometimes without a pattern. And she could paint. By the time my father retired from computer programming for the banking industry, she was deeply involved with china painting. She painted plates, eggs, and tiles. She even had her own kiln. To this day, I do not have one tenth of her artistic talent other than to appreciate the beauty in an otherwise busy world. In that respect, I am more like my father than my mother.
As part Native American, I find a lot of peace and beauty in nature. When I come across a picture of nature that really speaks to my soul, I feel compelled to capture it in some sort of form: oil, watercolor, acrylic, etc. My problem with that is that I am not an artist in the traditional sense. I upload photographs and the computer works its magic with photomanipulation.
Most of the pictures I have, I cannot use. Mainly because the computer has its limitations as do I. The computer cannot bring life to every photograph I have that speaks to me. So I can only share the smallest of my collection.
