Artist Statement I was born and raised in Sabah, Malaysia where I painted and drew and got my degree in Fine Art. I worked in acrylics, watercolor, oils and pastel trying different things, but always in an impressionist mode.

In 2006 I came to the USA to get married and live here with my husband, Don, who is also a fine artist. He promised to take me to a place unlike anything I have ever experience before. Having lived almost all of my life on the steamy tropical island of Borneo only 2° north of the equator, almost anything would be different. We set off for Arizona and New Mexico, spending a week camping and painting the buttes and mesas of Canyon de Chelly and Monument Valley. This gallery of work is a result of that trip. Since then we have taken a trip to California and also a cruise to Alaska.

In my more recent work, I use pastel as I find my painting style works best with them. As an impressionist, I look past detail, instead focusing on colors to dominate my work. I use contrasting colors in proximity to activate an abstract interplay between light and form, allowing a viewer’s eye to blend them into a more shimmering sensation of color. My drawings and paintings are personal
interpretation of the way I perceive my subject and my emotional response to it. Each work is a soul-searching experience; a never ending adventure. I am happiest when I paint.
