Artist Statement Tobias Jost was born in a pretty small and pretty unimportant town somewhere in the middle of Germany. Over the years he has lived in several even less important villages and a couple unimportant and a little more important towns, all within 100km of each other. He currently lives in Frankfurt, which is pretty important at least. Also, he is tired of moving. And his flat is pretty sweet.

Tobias started his painting career at the tender age of two, by knocking over a water glass onto a fountain pen resting on a piece of paper. The piece is framed and still displayed on his bedside table.

A few years ago he revived that tradition by flinging paint around using a wide variety of tools. It turned out to be surprisingly therapeutic. It also turned out that this method resembled the art form of Action Painting, mainly pioneered by Jackson Pollock in the middle of the last century.

When he is not mistreating canvas, Tobias usually tinkers with Websites and watches way too much TV. Sometimes both at the same time.
