Artist Statement Hi, my name is Lisa Kelly. I have just finished my Fine Art degree in Liverpool. A dialogue between painting and photography and the theme of portraiture informs my work. The use of paint is expressive and whilst the image has its origins within the photograph, an attempt is made to move beyond the strictly illustrative through the use of colour and expressionistic mark-making. I am interested in the idea of the 'wrong' snapshot, therefore I often use film photography, as the subject of my paintings.
