Artist Statement John Crowe was born in beautiful Charleston, South Carolina in 1976. His photographic journey began when he, his wife (Shannon) and daughter (Mary Brenna) packed up and headed west from a small town in Georgia to pursue a degree in geology at Montana State University. Immediately falling in love with the mountains surrounding Bozeman, he spent the next five years combining the demands of school and parenting with the pleasures of exploring the country outside his new back door. After graduating in 2000, he hired on at a local environmental consulting firm, spending his days outside working on stream restoration projects. In 2001, John and Shannon had their second daughter, Bella Zane. Determined to have their girls grow up around family, John and Shannon decided to move back to the southeastern United States. In 2002, John hired on as a Hydrologist with the Northwest Florida Water Management District in Tallahassee, Florida where he still currently works on challenging projects to protect, conserve and restore water resources. Living in Florida gives John an incredible opportunity to photograph scenic landscapes and wildlife in his spare time.
