Artist Statement

Born in Barranquilla, Colombia. Finished studies in Interior Design and Business Administration in the University Autonoma del Caribe, Barranquilla, Colombia in 1977 and 1988 respectively. I worked twenty seven years alternating both my careers; seventeen years were dedicated directing the school of interior design; the remaining years were spent managing furniture industry in Colombia, and working for different furnishing stores in Southern California. Since 2001 I reside in Signal Hill, California and I have worked for furniture stores, as showroom designer. I’ve been working as an interior designer for the past three decades, and always wanted to be an artist.

However, all my life I had an itch for painting that constantly nagged at me… Until ten years ago when out came the colors & the form. The creative ideas jumped from the box of surprises that air of nostalgia, my artistic inspiration exploded after years of being repressed. This has allow me to get to know my ambition for art, specifically watercolor, were I have achieved many triumphs in collective and individual exhibitions. My work has been selected to appear in calendars and in a restaurant menu.
Today I continue with all my interests in life: painting, interior design and business administration but I will never abandon my special passion... WATERCOLOR!!!
