Description Arnold Mc Dowell has a studio/workshop located in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, although he'll probably tell you his studio is anywhere he sets up to paint. His hidden angel within his paintings is his trademark and often serves as his signature, as opposed to putting his name on the painting. I made this portrait of the artist by photographing him sitting beneath a poster advertising prints for his 'soon to be released' artwork, 'Christmas in Athens.' I couldn't resist the set-up of the artist being dressed in the same clothing as he was wearing for the poster shot. I also couldn't resist 'painting' the artist while his poster remained a photograph in my final image.
Allan Carrano, Spartanburg, SC Member Since July 2016 Artist Statement I've been an avid photographer most of my adult life, but I found a more secure livelihood in being a scientist...my other talent; not that I haven't had success as an amateur and part time professional photographer. I've been published in magazines and scenic calendars. I've also won awards, including Kodak's International Newspaper Awards (KINSA). Among some 250,000 entries, my photo placed 2nd in the color category, and was exhibited at Kodak's Epcot Pavilion in Disney World and in National Geographic Explorers Hall in Washington, D.C. Now that I've entered my retirement years, I am devoting full time to creating photographic art and sharing the results through Imagekind.
