Artist Statement Hello. My name is Sandy Scharmer. Thank you for visiting my web site and seeing the beauty I see in the world through my lens.

I live in the heart of New England - Western Massachusetts. Rich in the beauty of nature, steeped in historic sites, cultural events, and quaint communities, Western Mass exudes old town charm.

Because I enjoy being outdoors, many of my images reflect the beauty I see in nature. My portfolio also reflects how much I enjoy photographing animals and still life. I find each of these areas offer unique challenges. When photographing beautiful New England foliage I need to wait for the ideal light; with animals it is important to anticipate the perfect moment; and with still life, I strive to arrange an aesthetically pleasing layout. I think what makes my images unique is my eye for detail, color, and composition.
