All Hallowtide
On this sacred night lit by an ancient moon shadowed in cobwebs, the unwritten promise - remembrance - awaits fulfillment.
But my thoughts are ragged, torn; ruby juice gushes, unexpected and unsought, from some new oasis in a heretofore familiar desert, dampening hallowed reason.
How to focus on the solemn, when the body clamors for enchantment?
Neurons of the rational mind - robed supplicants waiting to have that conversation with those hovering on another, distant plane - assemble to perform the ritual.
Vagabond fingers of brightly elegant desire weave a friction field along the perimeter of consciousness; a flawless tang perfumes the air with promises unrelated to my task.
And so begins a silent war; competing neurons fire. A haze of grey and scarlet fogs a patchwork landscape. The fey fall wind blows, kidnapping the promise.
I am undone.
Come to collect the stardust of the souls of buried dead, I am ambushed, magicked by the stealthy kiss of living love instead. ~ copyright 2017 RC deWinter
A view of the Kaministiquia River, locally called the Kam, featuring the full moon shining over the late autumn forest on another branch of the river. The main branch of the river empties into Lake Superior in Thunder Bay, Canada. The name means 'river with islands' in the indigenous Ojibwe language.
