Artist Statement My career as an artist really began 25 years ago, when I learned how to do stained glass as a hobby. I discovered that I love working with colors and creating an image that is pleasing to the eye. I quickly went from using only pre-designed patterns to creating my own patterns and designs, developing the ability to draw and adapt a drawing to use as a stained glass pattern.

Though I didn't start out with any formal education in art, I took a drawing class to improve my ability to draw new, original stained glass designs. The class I took happened to be a combined drawing / oil painting class. Some students (including me) were learning to draw and others were learning oil painting.

After the first few lessons, though I was loving the drawing aspect of the class, I found myself wanting to be on the other side of the room at an easel doing the painting. I re-enrolled the following semester and did just that, and have taken more classes since then.

I have also begun to love watercolor as well as painting in oils, and my new gallery (Watercolor Paintings) will be growing as I add new paintings to my studio.

I so much love the process of creating a painting and have learned a lot since then, first in classes and now in my own studio. I believe I will always be learning more and developing my ability to see things differently. That is the exciting part of being an artist. My vision is constantly expanding and changing, adding to my skills and experience as an artist. I hope you will enjoy what I am displaying here, and that it adds to your day.
