Artist Statement I have had a special liking for pen and ink art since childhood when I was quite taken by the artistry of the cartoonists. My favorites were Milton Caniff who did Terry and the Pirates, and Hal Foster who drew Prince Valiant. In time I came to appreciate the talent of the classical mapmakers who made mapmaking a fine art. To the extent I can I make my maps as I remember theirs.
