Artist Statement Pamela Gleave is a Michigan based artist who specializes in photography through the microscope (photomicrography). She uses various chemicals, kitchen substances, beer and wine to make spectacular fine art photographs that she calls “Chemscapes”. She graduated from Olivet College in Michigan where she received a degree in Sociology/Anthropology and Art . She has won several local and national awards for her Chemscapes as well as other artwork and conventional photography. Her work can be seen on the sets of Boss Kane Production's HBO show Boss starring Kelsey Grammer, and CBS prime time show Chicago Fire.
“Chemistry as art does not occur to most people; it is not generally thought of as a beautiful or artistic endeavor. Since chemicals are the basic building blocks of our world, why would they not be beautiful? Looking at the photomicrographs I make are like looking at clouds; everyone who views them has a different vision of what they are, how to orient them,
and what they mean. They invoke pure emotion, sending viewers off into a fantastic landscape from which they are reluctant to return.”
