Artist Statement Roch Herrick’s unique, artistic style incorporates experiences, experiments, and successes from a range of expressive media: landscape painting, graphic design, geometric themes, canvas, t-shirts, film, video, and traditional and digital animation.
An honors graduate of Ringling School of Art and Design, Sarasota, Roch parlayed his degree in Computer Graphic Design into a successful career as a digital animator and effects artist, producing computer generated graphics, animations, and special effects for a syndicated series “Super Boy” and “Super Force.” for company located at Universal Studios Florida.
Seeking more varied and challenging creative opportunities, Roch helmed the graphics and animation department of a leading Midwestern Production and Post facility from 1992 through 1998. In this position, Roch created dynamic 2-D and 3-D graphics, animations, and effects for non-broadcast and broadcast clients, and established a reputation for dazzling, sophisticated, and elegant work.
In 1998 Roch and his wife/creative partner set up their own digital animation and effects studio, Grafx Impact. Grafx Impact™ created an opportunity to focus on high-end creative opportunities to produce graphic design, 3D animation, and motion graphics for prominent corporate clients, including Sprint, Wal-Mart.
The creative freedoms and opportunities afforded by Grafx Impact resulted in Roch’s creation of a radically new artistic expression called Curious Dreams™
While it defies easy definition, Curious Dreams™ is best viewed as a collection of kinetic artwork designed to visually enhance surroundings, to kindle creative energy, and to soothe harmful tension. Most inspiring when appreciated with any flavor of music, Curious Dreams™ artistry sparks imagination through healthy sensory stimulation, and is dedicated to joyful, peaceful and revitalizing visual experiences.
