Description In 1977 BMW upped the capacity of its range-topping flat-twins to 980cc with the introduction of the R100/7 series. One of the most popular of models made its first appearance soon after. This was the enduro-style 'G/S', which was made available from 1980 as the 800cc R80G/S. In 1988 the range expanded to include the R100G/S. The R100G/S became the top-selling BMW model in Germany soon after its release.
