Description The canary (Sicalis flaveola) it is a type of bird of the family Emberizidae. Original of South America, it is found in Colombia, Ecuador, Venezuela, Peru, Brazil and Argentina. In Brazil, are in Maranho, Minas Gerais, Piau, Cear, Pernambuco, Bahia, Esprito Santo, Santa Catarina, Rio de Janeiro, Rio Grande do Sul, So Paulo, Paran, Mato Grosso and Gois. The nestlings are of the color gray or brown, independent of the sex. When adults, the males have predominant yellows colors, mainly in the head with red tones, and the females take a brown tone or yellow mixed with dark grooves. The feeding is constituted typically of seeds. They reach a size of 13,5 centimeters. The canary makes nest, in the nature, in cavities, getting to use frequently, abandoned nests .
