Artist Statement I am a Vermont artist. I would describe my painting as being somewhat impressionistic. I work in oils and acrylics. I frequently do landscapes of Vermont or other places I have visited. I enjoy watching birds, butterflies, horses and other animals and sometimes use them as subjects.
My work is often based on my travels both here in the United State and abroad. Sometimes I concentrate on Italian or French village scenes or landscapes from those regions. I usually work from photographs I have taken during my travels. A portion of my work with these European images is based on architectural ambiguity. I montage images to create a new one with architecture that could, or perhaps, could not be possible, that's where the ambiguity arises. The original paintings tend to be small or medium in size. I feel my work will be more successful in smaller print sizes as opposed to the larger ones.
