Artist Statement I have wanted to be an artist since my early childhood and I have been a student of light, and its many manifestations for the greater part of my adult life. I became enamored by the paintings of Mark Rothko, Modrian and Joseph Albers. It was in Albers that light became a science and the pursuit was optics.


All during this time I was a poet and the idea that I could be both visual and verbal was a constant challenge. I was encouraged by a friend to try digital imaging and what followed was an immensely rewarding experience. It was like learning to walk all over again and I was overwhelmed. As I progressed I realized that I was being afforded opportunities no master in prior times could have even conceived of.
