Artist Statement Marilyn Eichelberger was born and raised in Northwest Arkansas. In the 1980's, her mother fostered her creativity and imagination in an era when children ran wild and free. Hours were spent outside turning refrigerator boxes into detailed homes, climbing trees to day dream and spreading blankets on the lawn to read magical books about flying horses and lands far away.

In college, Marilyn got her Bachelor of Fine Arts while studying in Colorado. Her focus was on sculpture and the human form. During this time she found that her passion was the finishes she could create on her sculptures. While in college, she met her husband. After the birth of their son, they moved back to her home state to raise their children. Next came their daughter. While her children were little, Marilyn focused on creating murals and doing artwork that focused on things children would love seeing in their rooms.

In the fall of 2014, Marilyn began teaching 7th - 12th grade art at her high school alma mater. During this new season of life, she began to explore expressing her soul through color and texture. The death of her father in her early 20's and her near death experience in her late 30's have had a profound impact on her artwork. Never one to wallow in self-pity, she uses art as a visual narrative to express emotion. Of course, everyone needs a little fun too! There will always be room in her life for silly paintings of her pet pug Pig. She also loves to create murals and artwork for children's rooms. She tries to foster their imagination and help them dream just like she did when she was a kid.
