Description My work is a combination of two separate styles of painting that emerged over years of exploration. In the Impressionistic aspect of the painting I get to use the relationship between colors, brushstroke and emotion to set the mood. In other parts of the painting you may find it to be more Abstract Expressionistic giving me a chance to paint in a more narrative manner. Using both styles to tell one story I am able to give a sense of now along with a history of the past connecting the past to the present.

Artist Statement Carmen was born in Cape May County, New Jersey. As a child Carmen was drawn to art. Inspired by great artists, Carmen continued drawing and painting throughout his teenage years. Other then a few figure drawing and sculpture classes Carmen is a self taught artist and enjoyed the styles of pop art and impressionism.

Focusing solely on his art career, he began exhibiting his works throughout Philadelphia. Carmen received an overwhelming response to his art in Philadelphia which led him to reach out to galleries, coffee houses and restaurants in New York, Virginia, Washington and New Jersey. Carmen’s art has been described as pop-impressionism. Carmen decided to venture away from the east coast and moved to Arizona and again emerged himself into the art community.
