Description graphite on vellum8' x10'My wife and I recently adopted six wonderful children. The children have become the major motivation in our lives. The process of adoption one the opportunity to meet and intermingle both formally and informally with an array of Children's services professional. I completed this piece during the final days of the adoption process. Those days were a whirlwind of meetings, engagements, court appointments etc. In this piece, I try to depict or illustrate a typical character, whom I've named 'D'sha'. I employed special effort to capture an emphasis on the dominate features of a cross section of social workers that I met during the process of adopting the siblings. I processed my experiences by creating this character . I attempted to place special emphasis on her firm and noble jaw bone and strong yet fatigued eyes. I wanted to simply, honor, observe and commemorate those persons that are forced to routinely witness the daily atrocities that plague the forgotten children of a troubled society. Cheers-KEn
Kenneth Briggs, Atlanta, Georgia Member Since June 2007 Artist Statement I currently reside in Atlanta, Georgia (USA) with my wife and six wonderful children. I am thirty nine years old and as I note, I've been helplessly obsessed with doodling, sketching, and creative arts exploration since early childhood or at least as long as I can remember . A lot of my ideas derive from traveling and resideing in various cities across the country. The majority of my subjects represent experiences that I encounter during the course of busy a day. I have found that painting works well as a vehicle that takes me to a better place with regard to self enlightment. I have been creating characters on paper now rather profusely for that past 5 years. I've been and am now obsessed with creating new and hopefully inovative works. I am passionately obsessed with visions of embelished surfaces. I create every day, because I have many stories to tell and I choose to tell them through illustrations, paintings and photography. Thank you for viewing my works. Please stay tuned as I am painting every day, and new works are in the making. You can also view my Photographic works at www.sabet.tv. .
